The Arc Otsego Announces Joslin Award Winner
Sherry Springett,
trainee at The Arc Otsego Vocational Center, has
been named an “Outstanding Performer” as part of the
2005 William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance
Awards Program. The Joslin Awards Program, which was
introduced in 2004 by New York State Industries for
the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID), highlights the
significant employment and personal achievements of
New Yorker with disabilities.
Springett and forty
other workers were nominated by The Arc Otsego and
other NYSID member agencies throughout New York
State as 2005 Joslin “Outstanding Performers.” In
recognition of Springett’s accomplishments, Brian
Bateman, Production Development Analyst for NYSID,
presented her with an award certificate and cash
award on Thursday, September 22 at The Arc Otsego
Vocational Training Center.
According to Bill Brown, Director of Business
Development and Operations for The Arc Otsego,
Springett received the “Outstanding Performer”
award because she is conscientious, shows great
concern for the quality of her work and is proud of
her team’s output. “Sherry is so dedicated that
even after breaking her arm last year, she insisted
on coming to work every day to help out her
co-workers any way she could.”
NYSID is a
not-for-profit-corporation approved by New York
State to obtain contracts for products and services
provided by people with disabilities who are
employed by community rehabilitation programs across
New York State. The Joslin Awards Program is named
for the late William B. Joslin, Chief Executive
Officer of Human Technologies Corporation in Utica,
who served on NYSID’s Board of Directors.
The Arc Otsego, a chapter of NYSARC, Inc., is a
private, not-for-profit organization working with
and for people with developmental disabilities and
their families throughout Otsego County.
