Powell Nesbitt Named a NYSID, Inc. 2009 Outstanding Performer

Powell Nesbitt (left), trainee at The Arc Otsego’s Vocational Training Center, has been named an “Outstanding Performer” as part of the New York Industries for the Disabled Inc.’s (NYSID) 2009 William B. Joslin Outstanding Performance Awards Program. In recognition of his accomplishments, Nesbitt received a certificate and cash award from Kenneth J. Ringler, President and Chief Executive Officer of NYSID, Inc. at a ceremony at The Arc Otsego’s Vocational Training Center on October 2, 2009. His accomplishments were also included in a commemorative yearbook distributed to NYSID members and NYS legislators.
The Joslin Awards Program, which was introduced in 2004 by NYSID, highlights the significant employment and personal achievements of New Yorkers with disabilities. Nesbitt was among forty-nine workers statewide who were nominated by NYSID member agencies. To date, the program has recognized 263 workers with disabilities from across the state.
In nominating Nesbitt for the award, Bill Brown, Director of Business Development and Operations for The Arc Otsego, wrote “ Nesbitt is an integral part of our briefs-packaging team. He is reliable, punctual and quality focused.” In addition to being an effective worker, Nesbitt’s positive attitude is an asset to his supervisor and co-workers according to Robert Lawrence, Vocational Services Manager. “Nesbitt is a wonderful role model for his co-workers. He is a great team player and takes pride in his work.”
NYSID is a not-for-profit-corporation approved by New York State to obtain contracts for products and services provided by people with disabilities who are employed by community rehabilitation programs across New York State. The Joslin Awards Program is named for the late William B. Joslin, Chief Executive Officer of Human Technologies Corporation in Utica, who served on NYSID’s Board of Directors. |
