Main View Gallery & Studio presents "Self Stories"
Main View Gallery & Studio announces the opening of its fall exhibit, Self Stories, with a public reception on Friday, September 11 from 5-7 pm at 73 Main St., Oneonta, NY. Self Stories explores the concept of personal image through self-portraits and a series of large paintings that chronicle each artist’s journey through life. These visual stories reveal the innermost thoughts and experiences of the artists while celebrating their lives and artistic accomplishments.
Jeffrey Peterson’s self portrait was chosen as the cover art for the exhibit. Peterson’s work has been displayed in both Otsego and Chenango counties and he has exhibited at Voice! 2008 and at the Foothills Performing Arts Center’s production of Circus in the Wind.
Self Stories will run until December 1, 2009. The opening reception is free and open to the public. Gallery and gift shop hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am – 4pm and by appointment. All artwork has been created by artists from The Center for Self Expression-a program where individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities experience opportunities for self expression through the visual, performing, media and literary arts. Main View Gallery & Studio and The Center for Self Expression are programs of The Arc Otsego.
