Voice! 5 Exhibit Winners Announced

The Arc Otsego Announces Award Winners from Voice! 5

The Arc Otsego is pleased to announce the winners of the Voice! 5 juried art exhibition.  Now in its fifth year, the exhibition celebrates the creative voices of artists with intellectual and other developmental disabilities from across New York State.  Eleven awards totaling $1,000 in prize money were announced at the exhibit’s opening reception on Friday, July 31st  at The Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts’ Wilber Mansion including two new Spirit.  Winners included: 

 

  • First Place ($300)  James Kenneally,  “New York City Buildings”, Living Resources Carriage House Arts Center, Albany, NY.  Kenneally also took the first place prize in 2007.
  • Second Place ($200)  Jimmy Conway, “Grumpy Old Men” Crystal Run Village, Middletown, NY
  • Third Place ($100)  Wendy Stanton, “Dollhouse”, The Arc Otsego, Main View Gallery & Studio, Oneonta, NY
  • Honorable Mention ($50)  Theresa McClusky, “Flowers”, Crystal Run Village, Middletown, NY
  • Honorable Mention ($50)  Orlando Ricks, “Cityscape 2”, Crystal Run Village, Middletown, NY.  Ricks’ work was also selected as the cover art for the exhibit’s poster.
  • Jurors’ Award ($50)  Rousmaniere Brathwaite “Untitled”, Cerebral Palsy Association of New York State, North Babylon, NY.
  • Jurors’ Award ($50), Yosef Zakon “Hill Hold”  Crystal Run Village, Middletown, NY
  • Spirit Award ($50)  Jennifer Sands, “Into the Hall”  Arc of Monroe Community Arts Connection, Rochester, NY.
  • Spirit Award ($50) Jeffery Stewart, “Mountainscape” The Resource Center, Jamestown, NY.
  • Curators’ Award ($50)  Nicolios Kilpatrick, “Dancing Spirits”  The Resource Center, Jamestown, NY.
  • People’s Choice Award ($50)  Wendy Stanton, “Dollhouse”  The Arc Otsego Main View Gallery & Studio, Oneonta, NY

Voice! 5 was made possible with the generous support of Gilroy, Kernan and Gilroy, Inc., Gordon B. Roberts Agency, Inc., Corning, Inc., KeyBank and MVP Healthcare.  The exhibit runs until August 15, 2009.  Voice! 6 will take place at the Martin-Mullen Gallery, SUNY College at Oneonta, July 16-31, 2010.
